My story

Goret lived in the Namatala slums with her other 7 siblings. Her dad developed a mental illness in 2008 and abandoned his family, leaving the mother to try to provide. This left them in really bad shape and could not afford anything. Goret, being the oldest child, started working with her mother, trying to pick up dirty food from the streets to survive. Goret was old enough for school, but the fees were not something they could afford. In 2008, when Mama Aida met Goret, she started schooling right away. Right now, Goret is in a primary teaching college and hopes to be the best teacher in Uganda.
